Dr. Liliang Ren has been a professor in the College of Hydrology and Water Resources at Hohai University, Nanjing, China since 2001. He served as the dean of the college (2004-2010), vice-president of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS, 2011-2015), Vice-President of the International Commission of Water Resources Systems of IAHS (2007-2011), Vice-President of Chinese National Committee for IAHS (2007-2015), a member of Chinese National Committee for IHP of UNESCO (2008-2012), a member of Open Panels of CHy (Commission for Hydrology) Experts of WMO, and the UNESCO co-chair in sustainable water management at Hohai University. Also he has been a member of the International Board of Advisors for ASCE Journal of Hydrologic Engineering in USA, a member of Editorial Boards of Hydrology Research (Formerly Nordic Hydrology) in UK, Water Science and Engineering, Water Resources Protection, and Journal of China Hydrology.Dr. Ren has done a lot of research and teaching in geography, hydrology, ecology, and environmental sciences. In recent years, he has focused on mechanism and methodology of hydrologic response and water security in a changing environment. He has successfully supervised and examined doctoral research programs and plays a significant role in research grants and consultancy. He has published 15 books and over 150 peer-review articles in international and domestic journals. He is a leading professor of the Excellent Innovative Research Team in Universities of Jiangsu Province , focusing on flood and drought mechanism against the backdrop of climatic change. He was awarded the first-class Sci-Tech Progress Award by the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province as the PI of the project "physical processes of catchment hydrology and digital modeling” in 2009, and the first-class Natural Science Award by the Ministry of Education as the PI of the project “driving and response mechanism of watershed change on hydrological processes” in 2014.
