Dr Han Wang (wanghan@iwhr.com), B.Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D., is currently a civil engineer at China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research but also a hydro-meteorologist with interdisciplinary interests in statistic modelling, quantitative analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning. She has been working as a researcher in a range of fields: studying extreme events by using high-performance computing resources, compound events such as rainfall-skew-induced flooding analysis, rainfall nowcasting and pattern recognition by using deep learning technology, incorporating climate change into hydrological modelling, flash flood analysis and flood risk management. She has also been engaged in several international key scientific projects collaborated with the institute and colleges in China, the UK, the Netherlands and Vietnam, and worked as a main researcher in early warning system for urban flooding in Chinese megacities using advanced active phased array radar (APAR) and supporting sustainable and inclusive urban growth in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam with improved resilience to compound river-wave flooding. As a co-chair, she has run the 4th IMA international conference on flood risk. Dr Wang expert in programming and modelling, statistical analysis, applied Artificial Intelligence, decision-making under uncertainty, automated pattern recognition, climate change, big data analysis, and probability theory and modelling. Dr Wang has published 16 peer-reviewed high-impact SCI journal and conference papers.
