Daisuke Nohara is currently Assistant Professor at Disaster Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University, Japan, since 2007. He has a background on water resources engineering, and his research experience includes real-time operation of water resources systems considering operational hydro-meteorological information, decision support systems, artificial intelligence, and crisis management under extreme floods. He has also carried out research on complex disasters that consist of floods and other natural disasters, including earthquakes, tsunami, or serious infectious diseases such as COVID-19. He is a member of national and international research programs related to extreme-floods management or climate change impact assessment, such as: Super Typhoon Prediction System, Enhancement of National Resilience against Natural Disasters, Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP), Cabinet Office of Japan; Integrated Research Program for Advancing Climate Models (TOUGOU Program), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT), Japan; Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research.
